Condition
In half calf binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities. The spines are slightly darkened with a few small marks to the boards and spines. Internally, hinges starting but firm. Some spotting to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Bookplate to the front paste-down. and light offsetting to the free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with just the odd spot and some age-toning to the edges. Spotting heavier on the plates. The map in volume two of 'The Conquest of Mexico' has a closed tear of a couple of inches. The ribbon markers are slightly frayed.
