A fantastic tale first published in 1851, telling the story of two Black Brothers after they have wronged Southwest Wind, Esquire, who then floods their valleys.
Written by John Ruskin, the prominent art critic and historian of the Victorian age, who wrote on all manner of subjects. He originally wrote this as a tale for the young Effie Gray, whom he later married.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, title page, and with further vignettes from Richard Doyle.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with discolouration to spine and board perimeters. Handling marks to boards. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
