This is an interesting collection of 'spiritual epistles' by Muggletonian leaders John Reeve and Lodowick Muggleton.

The Muggletonians were a small Protestant Christian movement, stemming from the late seventeenth century, when a pair of tailors, Reeve and Muggleton, claimed to be the last Biblical prophets. Opposed to the Quakers, Muggletonian beliefs included opposition to philosophical reason, scriptural understandings of the universe, and the main belief that God appeared directly on Earth as Jesus.

The Muggletonians avoided church services and preaching, and only met to discuss works and socialise. They often cursed figures who 'reviled their faith', including novelist Sir Walter Scott.

This particular work includes contents such as 'A Book of 168 Letters', 'Sacred Remains', and 'A Stream from the Tree of Life'.

John Reeve (1608-1658) was an English plebeian prophet who believed that the voice of God instructed him to lead a group of people in 'preparation for the last days of Earth'. He formed the Muggletonian religious sect, which was named after his cousin Lodowick Muggleton (1609-1698), and survived as a religion until the death of its last follower in 1979.
