    First Edition, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

    A vanishingly scarce first edition. Last seen at auction in 1976. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. A travelogue of Robert Playfair's travels to the United States and British provinces of North America, between the years 1847 to 1849. With additional information for travellers such as the prices of hotels, railroads and other goods.

    Condition

    In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with shelf wear to the edges and spine. Spine is darkened. Marks to the boards. Front hinge is starting but firm. Staining to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Some spotting to the free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with age-toning to the edges and the occasional handling mark throughout. Some scattered spots to the front of the book.
