1856 L'Art Moderne
What Our Customers Say...
First Edition, Leather Binding
The first edition of this work. In the original French. In a smart half calf binding with marbled boards. Theophile Gautier was an ardent defender of Romanticism and penned many works. His works are a point of reference for Parnassianism, Symbolism, Decadence and Modernism. Subsequent authors such as Wilde, Proust, Eliot, Pound and Balzac hold him in high esteem.
In a half calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with a few marks to the spine. Light rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Light spotting to the first and last few pages, otherwise, just the odd spot.
