William Makepeace Thackeray is best known for his satirical works looking at English society, most especially for novel 'Vanity Fair'. He tended to be quite savage in his attacks on society, publishing under various pseudonyms in his youth to avoid personal criticism.

'Sketches and Travels in London', the first edition, dated 1856. This work contains short stories set in London, providing a comical depiction of the city as it was during the Victorian era. Some of the stories are written as letters from the writer to his nephew.

'Ballads', the first edition, dated 1862. An anthology of the author's poems; though Thackeray is best remembered for his satirical fiction, he was also an accomplished poet. Including 'The Chronicle of the Drum', 'The King of Brentford's Testament', 'The Ballad of Bouillebaisse', and more. 

'The Fatal Boots, and Cox's Diary', an early edition, dated 1860. 'Fatal Boots' is a compelling novella which explores society and class in nineteenth century England.

'A Little Dinner at Timmins's: and the Bedford-Row Conspiracy', the first edition, dated 1856. 'Little Dinner' follows a young couple as they try to find their place in London society, on a night when they throw a lavish dinner party.
