The President of the United States at this time was Franklin Pierce, and the thirty-fourth United States Congress was held from March 1855 to March 1857. 

This copy is Part III, and covers the report from the Secretary of the Navy and the Postmaster General. 

An uncommon work. 

Condition

In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, smart, with bumping to head and tail of the spine and extremities. A little loss to the head of the spine. Library stamp to the front free-endpaper. Internally, binding is generally firm. Some pages are slightly age-toned to the extremities and some contain the odd spot or handling mark, but otherwise pages are generally clean.
