A collection of 'Songs, Carols, and Descriptive Verses Relating to the Festival of Christmas, from the Anglo-Norman Period to the Present Time', edited by Henry Vizetelly.
With a chromolithographic title page, and a further fifty-three tinted illustrations by Myles Birket Foster. Collated, complete.
Foster was a prominent British illustrator, watercolourist and engraver in the Victorian period.
Rebacked, with endpapers renewed.
The collection includes numerous carols, verses and poems, from the Elizabethan era to the nineteenth century.
Condition
Rebacked, in the publisher's original decorative cloth binding, with original back strip laid down, and boards restored. Endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with instances of spotting to first and last few leaves, and the odd instance of light foxing.
