The first edition of this work.
A catalogue of the auction of the art owned by Ralph Bernal, auctioned off on the 5th March 1855 after Bernal's death. The auction was held by Christie and Manson.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirty-three plates.
Bernal was a Whig politician and noted art collector.
Collated, complete. Collated from Jisc, from a copy held at the University of Cambridge Libraries.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Crack to the tail of the front joint, a little bit of the backstrip lifting. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities, heavier to the spine. Light marks to the boards and spine. Spine is a little faded. Hinges are starting but firm. Front endpaper is detaching. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some odd spots.
