A keen observer and diligent Biblical scholar, Fisher Howe here writes the story of his experiences in Greece, Turkey, the Holy Land and other areas in the Middle East in the mid nineteenth century. The author visits the Acropolis, Tyre, Bethlehem, Jacob's Well, Jericho, the Dead Sea, and numerous other Biblically relevant locations, and describes them all in the voice of a Victorian-era gentleman.
