A lively history of the Roman Empire told in a style that was highly unusual at the time of publication, including chapters on: the foundation of Rome, the first war against the Samnites, the first Punic war, and the overthrow of Crassus. Written by Gilbert Abbot A Beckett, an English humorist, best known for this work.

    Condition

    In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown.
