The first edition of this work.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, one map, three plates, and in-text engravings.

An interesting volume, recounting the author's residence in Siam, now known as Thailand, whilst he was working under the King of Siam. 

Including a brief sketch on the history of Thailand, and notes on the manners, customs, and laws of the Thai natives. 

By Frederick Arthur Neale, who also wrote 'Eight Years in Syria, Palestine, and Asia Minor'.

Collated, complete.

Four pages of adverts to the rear.

Irregular pagination, as called for.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine and extremities of the boards are a little faded. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Small crack to the spine. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the occasional scattered spot. Map is detached but present, and is a little edge worn.
