A scarce work, this was the first and only edition.

Originally printed in 'The Times' on the 15th and 16th September 1852.

A concise yet thorough memoir on the life and career of the Duke of Wellington, published just after his death. 

Wellington was known for his heroic career fighting during the Napoleonic Wars, and for serving twice as prime minister under both George IV and William IV.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the paper boards and extremities. Spine is a little faded. A little loss of paper to the head of the rear board. Hinges are starting but firm. Torn paper to the edges of the paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the occasional spot. Small closed tear and ink mark to the head of the title page.
