Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding, Original Binding

The text in this work is French. Several Plates and Pages have been laid down. The work concerns Parisian architecture from 1830 through to the 1850s, with designs from the French architect Victor Calliat. Pierre Victor Calliat, 1801 – 1881. Calliat was a pupil of Chatillon and the École des Beaux Arts. In 1832 he won the Prix Départemental. Calliat restored the church of S. Gervais in Paris in 1862. In 1850 he founded the Encyclopédie d'Architecture which he conducted in association with A. E. Lance.

Condition

In the original half calf binding. Externally, smart. Light wear to the extremities. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light rubbing to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages have slight browning, with scattered spotting and handling marks. The first page of text has a large closed tear that has been professionally repaired, as shown above. Several pages and plates have small closed tears, that have been repaired, including the title page, and plates.
