The first edition thus, being the first edition of this work based off Rundell's 'A New System of Domestic Cookery'.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, one plate, and in-text engravings.
'Domestic Cookery' was a hugely successful cookery work of the nineteenth century, being oft-reprinted, and sometimes plagiarized.
This expansion upon Rundell's 'A New System of Domestic Cookery' includes all contemporary improvements of the culinary arts since the work was first published in 1806.
In 1819 Rundell asked Murray to stop publishing 'Domestic Cookery', as she was unhappy with the declining quality. After a court case Murray bought the rights for this work.
This edition also includes the contributions by Emma Roberts, who included many Anglo-Indian recipes to the publication.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, the cloth is rubbed, a little heavier to the joints. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Tail of the rear joint is lifting a very small amount. Very small chip to the head of the spine. Hinges are starting but firm. Scattered spots to the endpapers. Worn label to the recto of the front endpaper. Front endpaper is detached but present. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age toned and clean. Prior owner's ink inscription to the reverse of the frontispiece.
