First edition. The life of Sir Francis Leggatt Chantrey, an English sculptor who became the leading portrait sculptor in Regency era Britain, producing busts and statues of many notable figures. Chantrey's most notable works include the statues of King George IV (Trafalgar Square); King George III (Guildhall), and George Washington (Massachusetts State House). Written by John Holland, an English poet, newspaper editor and writer.
Condition
Rebound in half blue calf with blue cloth boards. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the spine. Light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light age toning and the odd spot to the first and last few pages.
