Richard Hooker was a sixteen century English priest and prominent theologian of his time, with a defence of the role of redeemed reason which informed theology of the later century, and a theological method which combined both revelation and reason with tradition.
The present volume contains his collected works, from the text of the 1836 edition. With sermons and books, and his major works including Of the Laws of Ecclesiastical Polity. Complete in two uniform volumes.
With a biographical sketch of his life by Isaac Walton.

In uniform full calf bindings with five raised bands and gilt tooling to spine, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally sound with shelf wear, light rubbing and minor scuffing to boards and spine, front joints starting. Gerald E. Aylmer's bookplate to front pastedown, signed by him in pencil to recto front blank leaves, which features stamp W. H. Chapman. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
