Edited by the Reverend William Scoresby, an English whaler and explorer in his own right.
Containing eight illustrated plates, collated and complete.
Bound by Bone & Son, with their bookbinder's plate to the rear pastedown.
Containing the bookplate and ink inscription of noted English zoologist Leonard Harrison Matthews, to the front pastedown and front free-endpaper.
This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.
Condition
In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper. Bookplate of Leonard Harrison Matthews to the front pastedown. Internally, binding generally firm. Plate to page 208 bound to the front of the book with a tape repair to the recto. Pages are generally clean.
