First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Rebound

The first edition of this work, rebound in full calf. Profusely illustrated with around ninety engravings, chiefly on steel, after paintings by Cooper, Herring, Hancock, Alken, Hall and others.

Containing 'portraits of all the winners of the Derby, Oaks, and St Leger Stakes' between 1930 and 1950, along with a 'history of the principal operations of the turf'.

This is the work of George Tattersall, an English sporting artist and architect, whose family ran the Tattersall horse market.

Condition

Rebound in full calf. Externally, fine. Internally, somewhat tightly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with the light spotting.
