The first edition of The Keepsake for 1850 edited by Marguerite Gardiner, The Countess of Blessington in the original publisher's red cloth.
With eleven monochrome plates by Frederick A. Heath. Collated. Twelve plates are listed, the plate facing page 68 is missing.
The Keepsake was an English literary annual which ran from 1828 to 1857. The anthology of poetry, short fiction, essays and illustrations was designed to attract young women.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding with gilt. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's book plate to the first free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Page vii/viii is loose. The plate facing page 68 is missing. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot.
