Illustrated, Leather Binding, Scarce

A scarce work. In French, translated from the original English. Illustrated with eight monochrome plates. Collated, complete. A supplemental work to Ludwig Gruner's 'Specimens of Ornamental Art'. An interesting work on the ornamental details found on Italian architecture from the twelfth to fifteenth century. Written by Ludwig Gruner, a Keeper of the Royal Print Room at Dresden. He was also an engraver an art publisher, directing the production of chromolithography by Storch & Kramer. Illustrated by Emile Braun. August Emile Braun was a German archaeologist, who devoted his career to art history.

Condition

In a quarter morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A little rubbing to the boards and spine. Front hinge is starting but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just a few spots.
