What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Leather Binding

The first edition of volume I in a half calf binding with marbled boards. Ink inscription to the front paste down, dated 1886. This collection contains the first volume, from 30th March to 21st September 1850, and part of the second volume, from 28th September to 19th October 1850, of Charles Dickens' weekly journal Household Words. This journal contained a mixture of fiction and non-fiction, and concerned itself with the social issues of the time, so it provides a wonderful insight into Victorian Britain.

Condition

In a half calf binding. Externally sound, with a little bumping to the boards and rubbing to the extremities and the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean, except for the odd spot to the first and last couple of pages, but slightly age toned. Lacking pages i and ii.
