Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding

With a illustrated frontispiece and eight illustrated plates. William Makepeace Thackeray was a British novelist, known for his satirical work. He is perhaps best known for his novel 'Vanity Fair', which received much critical success. Incredibly popular with the Victorian reader, he was an influential literary figure of this time. So much so Charlotte Bronte dedicated the second edition of her work 'Jane Eyre' to Thackeray. Collated, complete.

Condition

In a half calf binding with cloth covered boards. Externally sound. Rubbing to the joint and to the extremities, as well as to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in a small amount of loss to the leather. Crack to the head and tail of the front joint. Front hine is failing, and front board is a risk of becoming detached. Rear hinge is strained but firm. From endpaper has been ripped, and detached but present. Corner of the rear endpaper had been clipped. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with the odd spot throughout. Half title page has a small tidemark to towards the binding. Verso of half title page, the page has some loss to the head toward the foredge.
