A short and sombre novel by William Makepeace Thackeray, following a man who find access to a diamond which can grant him great wealth. Over the course of the novel, Titmarsh comes to the realisation that the most valuable treasure a man can have is a good wife.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, engraved title page, and eight plates.
Half-title is present.
Collated, all plates are present. Bound without the adverts.
William Makepeace Thackeray is best known for his satirical works looking at English society, most especially for 'Vanity Fair'. He tended to be quite savage in his attacks on society, publishing under various pseudonyms in his youth to avoid personal criticism.

Condition
In a half vellum binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Vellum is a little age-toned, as is usual. Only a few light marks to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with scattered spots. Tissue guard between the frontispiece and engraved title is missing.
