The second edition of this little book by William Makepeace Thackeray, one of five published under pseudonym M. A. Titmarsh. Thackeray was a British author and illustrator known for his satirical works, in particular Vanity Fair and The Luck of Barry Lyndon; the latter was adapted into a film by Stanley Kubrick in 1975.

With sixteen charming hand-coloured plates by the author. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original publisher's binding over paper covered boards, illustrated to front. Externally worn with shelf wear, boards and spine detached, minor loss to head and tail of spine, light soiling to boards, bumped to extremities. Internally, boards and text block detached to p. 17, binding failed with pp. 17-24 held by one cord only. Pages bright and clean. Illustrated with sixteen hand-coloured plates by the author. Collated, complete.
