Description

Rebound, Uncommon

Edited by his son, A.M. Crabbe. Complete in eight volumes. George Crabbe (24 December 1754 – 3 February 1832) was an English poet, surgeon and clergyman. He is best known for his early use of the realistic narrative form and his descriptions of middle and working-class life and people. Crabbe's poetry was predominantly in the form of heroic couplets, and has been described as unsentimental in its depiction of provincial life and society. This set is a New Edition published in 1847. Each volume contains a previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper: 'Archibald P. Nervius, From his affectionate sister, 10th October 1849'.
