Two volumes bound in one.

'Stokers and Pokers' by Francis Bond Head, the first edition, published in 1849. An interesting treatise on modern technology in the Victorian era.

'Travels In Egypt And Nubia, Syria, and the Holy Land', published in 1847, the first public circulation edition. By Charles Leonard Head and James Mangles. A vivid travel work recounting the journeys of two ex-Navy officers.

Ink inscription of William Westcott to the title page of 'Stokers and Pokers', with the name of the author written on the dedication in Westcott's hand.

Condition

In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Boards are a little faded. Rubbing to the spine, joints, and extremities, a little loss to the extremities. Ink inscription to the title page and dedication leaf of 'Stokers and Pokers'. Prior owner's pencil inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age toned and clean with only a few occasional spots.
