The Art Journal was the most important British 19th Century monthly art magazine with articles and portrayals of the fine arts. The ninth journal includes the monthly volumes from 1847 and the tenth from 1848.
With a colour decorative calendar to the front of the ninth volume and twenty eight plates. With thirty five plates to volume ten.
Collated, complete.
Volume nine has been re-backed with the original cloth restored and volume ten has been rebound in half calf with marbled covered boards.
Condition
Volume nine has been re-backed with the original cloth restored and volume ten has been rebound in half calf with marbled covered boards. Externally, smart with rubbing to the cloth and extremities of volume nine and marks to the boards. Some marks to the boards of volume ten. Front and rear hinges are starting to volume ten and remain generally firm. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright pages that are generally clean with some scattered spots.
