Description

Original Binding

Two volumes bound as one. Written during the British Victorian era and a time that America and Canada's colonies were vastly developing due to people from Europe emigrating. The first title, Mrs Jameson's work, depicts her time in Canada. Mrs Jameson was summoned to Canada by her husband, the Court of the Chancery of Upper Canada. She spent eight months travelling and writing in Canada meeting many emigrants and indigenous people. Much of her interactions with the native people are discussed in this text. The second title, edited by Reverend J Abbott tells the tale of Philip Musgrave's work as a Church of England Missionary in the North American colonies. Both of these works are an interesting depiction into the Victorian European view of the colonies and the indigenous people of Canada and America.
