'Statistical Accounts' was a pioneering work, looking into the country on the eve of the Industrial Revolution.

Sinclair is best known for this work, and for being the first person use use the word 'statistics' in the English language.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's original quarter cloth with paper-covered boards. Externally, sound, with rubbing and soiling to boards and cloth. Spine labels are discoloured. Some bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine, causing a little loss in places and some small tears to the cloth. Hinges are strained to most volumes. Tear along the rear joints causing backstrip to lift, attached only to the front joint, to I, II, VIII, with the same to the front joint to XV. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional mark to pages and plates.
