First edition of The Geologist's Text-Book by David Thomas Ansted in the original publisher's cloth binding.
Intended as a book of reference for the geological student.
A scarce edition with thirteen copies held in libraries.
David Thomas Ansted was an English professor of geology. During his career, he taught at Addiscombe Military Seminary, where future East India Company officers were trained and therefore his teachers influenced the study of geology in British colonies at the time.
Prior owners inscriptions and notes in pencil and ink throughout the text.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some slight loss to the extremities of the rear board. The hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some light age toning and prior owners inscriptions and notes in pencil and ink throughout the text.
