What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated

First published in 1843, this is a natural history functioning as a field guide describing the species of Britain. Written by William Yarrell (1784-1856), an English zoologist, naturalist and author. His work was highly regarded as being precise scientifically speaking. This work ran several editions and became the standardised reference for ornithologists in their studies of British birds. This was an immediately popular work to the general public and scientists alike.

From the library of Sir Arthur Landsborough Thomson (1890-1977), a Scottish medical researcher remembered for being an amateur ornithologist and expert on bird migration. His works include 'British Birds and their Nests', 'Problems of Bird Migration' and 'Bird Migration: a Short Account'. Also containing the bookplate of Sir John Goodsir (1814-1867), a Scottish anatomist who was a pioneer in cell theory.
