Volume XII of 'The Floricultural Cabinet', for January to December 1844, a scarce to see volume.

Illustrated with a hand-coloured frontispiece, an engraved title page, and eleven hand-coloured plates.

A botanical magazine, containing articles on many different aspects of flower cultivation, alongside information on the proceedings of horticultural societies, newly identified species, and more.

This magazine was published monthly from March 1833 until 1859, an incredibly popular low-priced publication which sold almost 60,000 copies in its first nine month. After 1859, it became a weekly publication, being renamed 'Gardener's Weekly Magazine and Floricultural Cabinet'.

Edited by Joseph Harrison, an important horticulturist.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, a little rubbed. Minor bumping to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots, including to the plates.
