An early edition, stated 'fourteenth thousand' printing of this exceptional survey of the Holy Land compiled by John Thomas Bannister. dated 1844 from a 'sixteenth thousand' copy on Jisc.

In this volume, Bannister includes much topographical information, with geographical and historical sketches of the Holy Land, to form a complete and detailed study of the imagery utilised in the Scripture, and to demonstrate the 'fulfilment of the prophecy' and the destiny of the Land. 

An excellent an extensive work.

The volume is embellished with numerous engravings and maps. Collated, complete with frontispiece, two folding maps, and various beautiful plates and in text illustrations. 

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding with gilt to the edges. Externally very smart with some shelf wear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. With minor rubbing and handling marks to the spine and boards. Previous owner's inscription to the verso of the frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint spotting to the the plates of leaves only, otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with numerous engravings and maps. Collated, complete with frontispiece, two folding maps, and various beautiful plates and in text illustrations.
