Previously owned by Sir W. W. Follett, M. P, the attorney general the work was presented to, with his initials to the front board. Follett was the attorney general in 1844 during the passing of the act in question.
Bound in full calf, with diced calf to the boards.
This work was written and published by the Nonconformists of Great Britain and Ireland Associated for Promoting the Dissenters' Chapels Bill. This work discusses the 'Dissenter's Chapels Act', which allowed English dissenters, people who opposed the state interference in religious matters, to found their own schools, communities and churches. This work also provides an account of the proceedings in the House of Lords on the Introduction of the bill.
Condition
Bound in full calf with diced calf to the boards. Externally sound with rubbing to the joints, to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities of the boards, front joints tender with back strip lifting slightly, fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Front hinge held by cords with light spotting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear.
