Author's Presentation Copy, First Edition, Original Binding, Signed, Very Scarce

A signed presentation copy of the very scarce first edition of this brief philosophical and theological work from English Swedenborgian and politician Charles Augustus Tulk.

Signed by Tulk to the verso of the front free endpaper, 'John and Carolina Augusta Gordon, from their affectionate father, the Author', and addressed from Tulk's home, 'Totteridge Park, 1843'.

With the former owner's inscription of Beatrice Ley to the verso of the front free endpaper also.

A very scarce work, divided into a number of short passages with headings including 'The Mundane Sun and its Heat and Light', 'The Human Form of the Body' and 'The Three Kingdoms of Nature'.

Condition

In a contemporary cloth binding. Losses and fraying of cloth to the back strip, with marks to boards. Joints starting, with boards tenderly held. Author's inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, binding strained throughout, with central gatherings working loose. Pages generally clean and bright.
