A very attractive copy of this work on animal chemistry by Justus Liebig, based on the manuscript by William Gregory. Second (and Best) English Edition. A tight, clean example of this important work which introduced the concept of metabolism into physiology - First classification of the organic foodstuffs and the processes of nutrition. In the original publisher's binding of blind-stamped and gilt mauve diaper cloth. Justus Liebig was a Professor of Chemistry from the University of Giessen and William Gregory was a Professor of Medicine and Chemistry at the University and King's College, Aberdeen.

Condition

Bound in half calf with marble covered boards. Externally, smart with minor shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Some spotting to the first few pages, but otherwise pages very bright and clean. A couple ink marks on page v. A very attractive copy given its age.
