With an illustrated title page and frontispiece by T. A. Prior, and an additional 3 plates. With several illustrations take from the original sketches on the author, Captain Lacy, and engraved by E. Landells. In addition the work boasts over 20 in-text illustrations. Collated complete. This particular volume has been rebacked with the original boards and backstrip preserved. A lovely work of shooting history from the mid-nineteenth century, offering a comprehensive look into the art of shooting for the Victorian sportsman. Rather rare and sought after.
Condition
Rebacked with the original backstrip preserved. Externally lightly bumped to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Small amount of loss to the front and rear pastedowns towards the hinges, most likely due to rebacking. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally clean with light age toning to the extremities of numerous pages, alongside the odd spot. Tidemark to the reverse of the frontispiece.
