First Edition, Illustrated, Very Scarce
The very scarce first edition of Burgh Castle rector Charles Green's study of the geology of Bacton, Norfolk, a small coastal parish.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and three further plates, two of which are double page. Collated, complete.
Divided into three chapters: History, Broomholme Priory, and Geology. Much of the appendix to the rear is devoted to the history of the Cluniac monks.
Bound without the publisher's catalogue to the rear.
Condition
In the original cloth binding, with new morocco spine label. Light fading to back strip, with bumping to back strip tail. Front and rear hinges strained, with boards holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. The odd spot throughout, most concentrated to plates. With a small number of neat pencil notations to the margins.
