Early edition of History of the Reformation of the Sixteenth Century by Jean-Henri Merle d'Aubigne in full calf binding. 

Translated from the French by Walter K. Kelly. 

A scarce translation of this work, with only seven copies held in libraries. 

Undated, dated from Jisc and the copy held by the British library. 

D'Aubigne was a well renowned historian of the Reformation and a Swiss Protestant Minister.

Complete with all sixteen parts bound as one. 

Prior owner's book plate to the first pastedown. 

Condition

In full calf binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The front board is slightly faded. The hinges are slightly strained but firm. Prior owner's book plate to the first pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some light spots to the endpapers.
