Description

The first edition of the work. Lacking pages 233-272. Index has been incorrectly bound to the front of the work. Lacking three plates, and the twenty six vignette illustrations bound between 233 and 272. All other plates are present, including the frontispiece and the map of Lancashire. The work offers a unique insight into the city and its namesake county. Written by Cyrus Redding, a British journalist. Final leaf is misnumbered as 238 as called for. Endpapers and blanks have been renewed.

Condition

Rebound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally very smart with just the odd light mark to the boards. Endpapers and blanks have been renewed. Pages generally bright with scattered spotting. Small tidemark to frontispiece. The occasional closed tear, not affecting the text or plates. Lacking pages 233-272. Index has been incorrectly bound to the front of the work. Lacking three plates, and the twenty six vignette illustrations bound between 233 and 272. All other plates are present, including the frontispiece and the map of Lancashire.
