1841 The Geology of the Island of Arran, from Original Survey
What Our Customers Say...
Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
The scarce first edition of Scottish geologist Sir Andrew Crombie Ramsay's geological survey of the isle of Arran, the first published work from Ramsay.
Illustrated with two hand coloured plates, and further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.
Explained by the author as produced with the intention of affording a 'useful guide to the geology of Arran', this slight work is divided into six chapters discussing different regions of the island.
With two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear, and library stamps throughout.
In the publisher's original cloth covered boards. Small losses to the cloth at spine head and tail. Light marks to boards. Library stamp to front free endpaper. Internally, binding strained throughout. Significant areas of spotting and discolouration throughout, with the odd library stamp.
