Leather Binding

New edition, revised and extended by Allan Cunningham. Including an introduction on modern painting. Matthew Pilkington (1701-1774) was the author of a standard text on painters, what would become known as Pilkington's Dictionary. His work was widely published through many editions, being renamed A Dictionary of Painters in the 1805 and 1810 versions of Henry Fuseli, before becoming commonly known in the nineteenth century as Pilkington's Dictionary.

Condition

In a half-morocco binding. Externally, sound, though with some rubbing and a few marks to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with just the occasional spot (heavier to the first and last few pages).
