Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

A third, enlarged edition of this two volume set of terms used in Grecian, Roman, Italian and Gothic architecture. 

The first volume contains the text and the second volume contains the plates and a description of the plates. Throughout the two volumes the terms are exemplified by seven hundred wood-cuts. The volumes are aimed at being a concise and helpful glossary to aid the reader in their understanding of architectural terms. 

The third part of this set includes a companion to the third edition which was published a year later in 1841. 

With advertisements to the rear of both volumes and a catalogue to the first volume.

Previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper of both volumes dated 1841 for William Eden, which could be William Eden the 4th Baronet.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with some fading to the spines bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and some fading to the boards. Front hinges are starting on both volumes but remain firm. Previous owner inscription to the front free endpaper of both volumes dated 1841 for William Eden, which could be William Eden the 4th Baronet. Internally, firmly bound with generally bright pages with some spotting to the odd leaf, mainly concentrated to the first few pages.
