First published in 1805, in this work author James Bruce describes his travels between the years 1768 and 1773, through Africa, Syria, Egypt, and Arabia, into Abyssinia, with the aim of discovering the source of the Nile, something he did ultimately accomplish.

James Bruce of Kinnaird was a Scottish traveller and travel writer who confirmed the source of the Blue Nile, who spent more than a dozen years in North Africa and Ethiopia.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with back strip lightly age toned. Handling marks to boards. Front joint tail strained, with board firmly held. Front free endpaper adhered to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned to perimeters, with significant spotting and handling marks throughout. Frontispiece and engraved title page significantly age toned.
