Third edition. In a smart full calf binding with gilt detail and a gilt fore edge. Features 23 plates, with sixty-six monochrome engravings. Collated complete. A fascinating educational book about the manufacture of different materials, including accounts of agriculture, shipbuilding and mining. Includes a publishers advertisement and preface. With the previous owners inscription from Free Grammar School, Exeter, dated 1839.

Condition

In a full calf binding with gilt detail. Externally generally smart with rubbing to extremities and marks to spine. Hinges slightly strained but firm. Contemporary ink inscription on front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with just the odd spot. Heavier spotting on the plates.
