What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

An early edition, possibly a pirate from Bentley's edition.

Illustrated with an engraved title page.

'The Adventures of Caleb Williams' is William Godwin's call to end the abuse of power by the government, told through the life of the humbly born Caleb Williams.

This edition includes Godwin's original preface, which had been removed from the first edition as it caused alarm to booksellers.

William Godwin was an influential philosopher and journalist, known for his radical publications, and for being the father of Mary Shelley.

Condition
