Description

Leather Binding, Original Binding, Signed Binding

Complete in four volumes. In the original French. In a signed binding by R. Nelson. This work is an account of the author's grand journey he made to the countries of the Orient, a journey made in royal luxury. The journey was made between July 1832 and September 1833. Lemartine describes his travels in a brilliant and bold style, richly describing the East as it was at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The author also had a great fascination for the Orient. During the course of this journey Lemartine lost his only daughter. Alphonse de Lamartine was a French poet and politician, who is known for being fundamental in the foundation of the Second Republic, and for the continuation of the Tricolore being used as the flag of France. His other works include 'Saul', 'Meditations Poetiques', 'Jocelyn', 'Histoire de la Revolution', and more. Collated, bound without the folding maps.
