An excellent collection of five volumes bound in one as published by William Chambers between 1838 and 1840. 

Comprising:

Mungo Parks' autobiographical work The Life and travels of Mungo Park, with an original memoir of his early life, being a reprint of the 'Travels in the Interior of Africa,' originally published in 1798, and an original narrative of his second journey. With an account of the progress of African Discover, from the death of Park until 1838.

The people's edition of 1838, illustrated with a map. 

Incidents of Travel in Egypt, Arabia Petraea, and the Holy Land by J L Stephens. The people's edition of 1839, illustrated in text. 

Incidents of Travel in Greece, Turkey, Russia and Poland by J L Stephens. The people's edition of 1839. 

Sephens was an American explorer, a pivotal figure in the rediscovery of Maya civilisation in Middle America, and in the planning of the Panama railroad. In these works, he explores Asia and Europe, as well as Egypt.

Travels in the Burman Empire by Howard Malcom. The first edition of 1840, illustrated with a map and other wood engravings in text. 

Travels in Hindustan and China by Howard Malcom. The first edition of 1840, illustrated with wood engravings throughout. 

Malcom was known for his missionary travels in Burma, which he described in some valuable volumes. His most noted works include Travels in South-Eastern Asia, embracing Hindustan, Malaya, Siam, and China and Travels in the Burman Empire.

Condition

In a half calf binding over marbled boards. Externally smart with some shelf wear and edge wear, as well as a slight rubbing to the spine and extremities. internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint scattered spotting to the occasional leaf, although, generally, the pages are clean throughout with only a minor touch of age toning, as usual. Illustrated with maps and engravings in text.
