A very scarce first edition.

Inscribed by the author to the half-title, 'Earl Fitzwilliam, from the author', which his name handwritten below the title.

Earl Fitzwilliam at this time was Charles Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, a nobleman and politician, who became the President of the Royal Statistical Society, and the British Association for the Advancement of Science.

A pamphlet essay discussing the continued opposition seen with the House of Lords opposing the reform program put into place by Sir Robert Peel.

Condition

Disbound. Externally, the outer leaves are a little age-toned with some spots. A little edgewear to the outer leaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean, with just a few odd spots. Faint tidemark to the tail of the half-title. Author's inscription to the half-title. A couple of pencil notes to the margins, relating to the text.
